Códigos Postais Dublin Postal Codes Bairros

O sistema distrital postal foi introduzido em 1917 pelo governo do Reino Unido, como uma maneira prática de organizar a distribuição postal local. Isto seguiu o exemplo de outras cidades da Europa. O código alfabético "D" foi reservado para designar Dublin, e depois da independência da Irlanda, não foi alterado. O novo governo irlandês manteve o sistema de distritos postais. No entanto, o uso de números de distrito por parte da população não ocorreu até meados de 1960, só era exibido o nome da rua em Irlandês e Inglês. A partir dessa 1960 que o sistema implantado foi vagarosamente a ser utilizado. A divisão é bem simples de compreender, números ímpares acima do rio Liffey e número pares abaixo.
